It's the beginning of a new year...

... and New Years resolutions are in full force. For us, it's not so much of a New Years resolution as it is a kick in the butt to get motivated. We've been in this rut for too long and it all changes now.

After some thought, we decided to start the Paleo diet, which is more of a lifestyle change for us rather than a "diet." If you don't know what the Paleo diet is here is the Cliff Notes version. You cut out the processed foods and sugar from your diet. No bread, pasta, corn, rice, most dairy, foods that have chemicals in them that you can't pronounce.. you get the point. We are starting out with a 30 day Paleo challenge, something that's not out of our reach and not overwhelming. Here is a link on some great Paleo information: www.paleodietlifestyle.com

With our workout routine, we're going to be following Joe Howard's "Firefighter's 21 Day Rapid Fat Loss Program." Joe says it works, so we're going to try it. Here's the link to his blog: http://firefighterfitnessformula.com/blog/.

After these challenges are over, we will see if we want to continue working out or eating that way and modify it to fit us.

Tomorrow we are going to get our starting weights, measurements, "before" pictures, set our goals, and start with DAY 1! To be successful in this, I'm going to menu plan on Sunday of each week, go to the local farmer's market, we have a monthly goal chart, this blog to keep us accountable, and each other.. I see nothing but success in our future. :)

Breakfast - Egg & Vegetable Frittata
Snack - Fruit Smoothie
Lunch - Paleo Burger with Apple Slices
Snack - 1/2 Avocado with Lemon Juice and Sliced Almonds
Dinner - Baked Salmon with Asparagus

I'm excited for tomorrow!
